How to Assemble a Yurt-Cabin Kit

You don’t need a construction crew or specialized building experience to assemble a Freedom Yurt-Cabin. Each kit is built around a proven assembly system that comes together in a straightforward, well-defined sequence. Precision-cut components and clearly labeled parts are supported by a clear, step-by-step assembly manual, so there’s no guesswork along the way.

Prepare Your Site

Choose a location with plenty of open space for both the Yurt-Cabin and the build process. Make sure the area is clear of obstacles above and around the site, and that the ground is suitable for your chosen foundation.

Once the location is established, identify the center point of the cabin, mark the circular footprint using the provided measurements, and build the foundation.

With the foundation in place, the floor joist system is ready to be assembled.

Assemble the Floor Joist System

The Yurt-Cabin floor begins at the center and radiates outward. A leveled steel center ring is set in place first, and floor joists extend out from the ring to form a leveled, circular frame.
With the floor joist system in place, the assembly is ready to move on to the next stage.

Install Precision-Cut Floor Sheathing

Precision-cut floor sheathing panels are installed over the joist system, tying the structure together and creating a solid, level surface.
With the floor sheathing in place, the Yurt-Cabin has a stable working platform and is ready for wall installation.

Install Insulated Wall Panels

Insulated wall panels are installed around the perimeter of the floor system in a clear, consistent sequence. These factory-built panels form the structural walls of the Yurt-Cabin while providing the insulation needed for comfortable, four-season use. During this stage, panels with pre-installed doors and windows are installed just like the other wall panels, placed in their proper locations and secured as part of the overall wall system.

As the walls come together, the circular shape of the Yurt-Cabin takes form. From here, the build continues upward into the roof system.

Install Roof Ring and Rafters

The rafter system is raised into place using a centralized steel roof ring designed for efficient, controlled installation. Once positioned, roof rafters connect easily from the ring to the walls below, forming the structure of the roof.

After the rafters come together, you’re ready for the roof panels.

Install Roof Panels

With the rafter system in place, roof panels are installed onto the rafters, forming the solid roof surface of the Yurt-Cabin. The panels fit together in a consistent pattern, creating a continuous layer that follows the shape of the roof.

As the panels are set, the structure transitions from an open rafter frame into a covered cabin, ready for the roof.

Install Roofing Membrane

Next comes the roofing membrane, precision-cut and factory hot-air welded, ready to roll out over the roof panels. Designed specifically for the Yurt-Cabin, the membrane fits the roof cleanly and efficiently, following its shape with precision.

Once installed, the membrane provides durable overhead protection as the assembly continues.

Install the Dome

The dome is installed at the center of the roof, capping the opening created by the roof ring. Designed to fit precisely with precision.

Once installed, the dome allows natural light and ventilation while protecting the structure from the elements above.

Finishing Touches

With the roof complete, final exterior details are installed, including the valance and optional awning. Wall panel seams are caulked with a flexible, chinking caulk to seal the structure and complete the weather barrier.

At this stage, the Yurt-Cabin is fully dried-in and protected, creating a comfortable, enclosed space that’s ready for interior build-out and personalization.

Yurt-Cabin Portability, Permits, and Code Considerations

Freedom Yurt-Cabins are designed to support both temporary and permanent structure classifications, depending on location and use. The non-permanent foundation system can simplify permitting in many jurisdictions while maintaining structural performance.

Because no concrete slab is required, your Yurt-Cabin can be disassembled and relocated without permanent site modifications. Always check local permitting and building codes to confirm requirements for your Yurt-Cabin installation.
