Our Yurt-Cabin Kits are engineered with an integrated flooring system, giving you flexibility in how you support your Yurt-Cabin structure. Every property and project is different; the foundation you choose depends on whether you need a temporary, semi-permanent, or permanent foundation for your yurt house.
  • Temporary or semi-permanent foundations: The Yurt-Cabin can be placed directly on precast pavers or similar support blocks. This choice is common for customers who want a removable or seasonal round-house-style yurt-cabin.
  • Permanent foundations: The Yurt-Cabin can be placed on piers, stub walls with footers, basements, walk-out foundations, or structural supporting decks. This choice is common for customers who want a more permanent round-house-style Yurt-Cabin.
If your jurisdiction requires engineered foundation plans, our Yurt-Cabin Specialists can assist. We work with licensed engineers who can provide foundation plans and stamped drawings tailored to your building site and local code requirements for a fee. Freedom Yurt-Cabins offer foundation flexibility, making them suitable for both temporary or fully engineered, permanent yurt homes, all while maintaining the strength and reliability expected from a premium yurt-cabin structure.
This is a common question we are asked, our engineered floor system and solid, hard-sided walls work together to make plumbing installation straightforward. The hard-sided walls provide the structural support needed for plumbing fixtures, while the integrated flooring system creates a built-in chase beneath the ¾” floor sheathing, allowing you to run water supply lines with ease. Waste lines can be routed down and under the integrated floor system. The floor chase is not ideal for drain lines because it may not provide the proper slope for effective drainage. If you plan to include a bathroom in your yurt house, the layout should be finalized prior to construction to ensure proper plumbing placement. Your Yurt-Cabin Specialist is available to help you plan and guide you through the best options for your yurt home.
Yes, absolutely. Many customers build their Freedom Yurt-Cabin Kit themselves with a small crew of friends and family. We’ve designed our hard-sided yurt to be as straightforward and user-friendly as possible by providing:
  • Clear step-by-step instructions
  • Palletized and labeled components for easy identification
  • Install videos
  • A knowledgeable support team is available by phone whenever you need assistance. That said, you’re always welcome to hire a contractor or handyman if you prefer, especially if you’re short on time or want extra assistance.
Freedom Yurt-Cabins recommends that our 22-wall Yurt-Cabin kit should be installed by a contractor or experienced handyman.
Yes, a loft can be installed to any of our Yurt-Cabin kit sizes with the proper installation of interior walls or a post-and-beam system to support the loft structure. Whether it will be used for storage or as additional living space will determine the support and layout requirements. If you’re looking for more ways to maximize your interior space, we can provide layout ideas and practical tips to help you make the most of your premium hard-sided Yurt-Cabin.
Great question, yes it can. The integrated flooring system creates a built-in chase area beneath the ¾” floor sheathing, allowing you to run wiring across the Yurt-Cabin kit.
Yes, we do! We offer interior walls that are designed to match the look and fabrication style of the exterior wall panels. They are pre-framed at 16″ on center, making it easy to run electrical lines, hang cabinets, shelving, or other fixtures. Interior walls are stained and painted to match your cabin’s interior color selection; giving you a clean, continuous finished look as soon as your yurt house or yurt office is assembled.
Absolutely, ventilation is recommended. Just like a house or apartment, proper ventilation is essential in areas where moisture builds up, such as bathrooms and kitchens. We recommend installing exhaust fans to remove humidity, steam, and odors. Exhausting these systems directly outside your hard-sided yurt helps protect your interior finishes, reduces condensation, and maintains a healthier indoor air environment. The dome is also able to be opened to create a draft point. We suggest only venting through walls or floors, never through the roofing membrane.
Freedom Yurt-Cabins are fully insulated, hard-sided structures that support standard heating and cooling systems such as mini-splits, heaters, wood stoves (where permitted), and air conditioning. This allows for comfortable, efficient, year-round use in a wide range of climates.
This is a great question that is quite often overlooked. When choosing the ideal spot for your premium yurt, consider the following:
  • Cabin area – Ensure the location is large enough and free of obstructions so your Yurt-Cabin can sit comfortably within the required footprint.
  • Overhead Clearance – Check for tree branches, power lines, or other overhead obstacles that may interfere with construction or long-term safety.
  • Soil Conditions – Make sure the ground can support your piers or foundation type. Slope/grade, drainage, and environmental factors are a few examples that should be taken into consideration, based on your site-specific location.
  • Access for Delivery & Materials – Confirm that you can get the palletized kit and building materials to your site’s location.
Freedom Yurt-Cabin kits are delivered palletized. Each pallet can be broken down into individual components for transporting into remote or hard-to-get-to areas.
Freedom Yurt-Cabins kits provide excellent cost-per-square-foot value. Our 716 sq ft. Yurt-Cabin kit starts at $91 per sq ft while our 217 sq ft. Yurt-Cabin kit starts at $147 per sq ft. These low prices keep our premium hard-sided Yurt-Cabin kit an affordable ownership option for all types of clientele.
