Our Story

Freedom Yurt-Cabins began in 2016 when skilled craftsman Ken Sawyer acquired the company with a vision to elevate a promising concept into something extraordinary. Drawing on decades of experience in modular home building, general contracting, custom cabinetry, and metal fabrication, Ken set
out to reimagine what a yurt could be.

Inspired by the nomadic legacy of the yurt, we’ve redefined
it for today’s world, with comfort, code compliance, and long-term durability in mind. Integrating the enduring appeal of a traditional yurt with the strength and reliability of solid-wall construction, Ken and his team created a unique structure that offers both tradition and practicality.

What began in a modest 2,500-square-foot shop has grown into a 45,000-square-foot production facility, allowing us to meet rising demand and scale efficiently without compromising quality. Today, Freedom Yurt-Cabins proudly delivers premium, straightforward-to-assemble Yurt-Cabin kits that serve as smarter, faster, and more cost-effective alternatives to traditional builds—ideal for outdoor hospitality, personal retreats, and off-grid living.
